Since 2010, when I decided to convert my 1958 Cessna 182 to a taildragger, my interest in this process has led me to learn all the ins-and-outs of converting straightail 182s. What I’ve come to appreciate is that you have the choice when you want a Cessna 180 of buying a 2-3x groundlooped 180 or buying a lowtime straight airframe 182 and converting it. What you end up with is a straight-flying 180 with vital improvements for an all-around stronger airframe.
